Targeted therapy can bring radiation to many different sites in the body

Targeted therapy uses specially designed antibodies that specifically seek out certain cancer cells. Sometimes radiation is attached to these antibodies, delivering the radiation directly to those cancer cells. Since the antibodies are designed to seek out and deliver the radiation only to cancer cells, healthy cells are spared. This differs from traditional radiation therapy and chemotherapy, which reach healthy cells of the body.
