Breast Cancer Basics
While the incidence of breast cancer cases is rising, the mortality rate from breast cancer is decreasing
As the population of the United States has gotten older, and more women are aware of breast cancer, the number of cases discovered is increasing. However, thanks to increased awareness of the illness, which leads to earlier detection, more women are treating their breast cancer in the early stages. Moreover, new treatments that are highly effective have become part of the equation. So, while the number of cases may be rising, the number of women surviving this disease is rising as well.
